Kawasaki Teryx gets EFI for 2009

Sept 20, 2008

Kawasaki has announced that the 750 V-twin engine in the Teryx will receive fuel injection for all 2009 models. The EFI system used on the Teryx is similar to that used on the 2008 Brute Force, with a few major differences. The Teryx receives smaller (34mm) throttle bodies for improved torque on the heavier Teryx, and the EFI computer is re-calibrated specifically for the Teryx. In addition, Kawasaki has added a fuel gauge, tilting bed and a number of other upgrades to the '09 models.

Thunderhawk announces turbo system for Polaris RZR

July 31, 2007

Thunderhawk Performance has been developing an intercooled turbocharger system for the Polaris Ranger RZR since it’s introduction. The Thunderhawk RZR turbo system is a complete turbo system including all necessary fuel system and ECU upgrades. This turbo system is currently undergoing extensive dyno and field testing in preparation for production. The Thunderhawk RZR turbo system features state-of-the-art design and construction as used in the finest automotive turbocharger systems.

Here is a brief overview of the Thunderhawk RZR turbo system. Thunderhawk Performance has selected a properly sized turbocharger matched to the airflow requirements of the Polaris RZR's 800 EFI engine, thereby reducing turbo lag. A durable bar and plate intercooler is included to reduce inlet charge temperatures to within 30° of ambient air temperature, which eliminates the need to run race gas. Fuel system and ECU upgrades are included to guarantee proper fuel delivery for reliable operation under all operating conditions. Exhaust system components are included to optimize exhaust flow for this turbocharged application. High flow air filtration and inlet ducting have been designed to eliminate any potential dust or water ingestion by the engine.

Thunderhawk Performance has designed this turbo system for optimum performance and reliability under all operating conditions, from 100+ degree days at the dunes to a cool day in the hills playing in the mud. Clutch upgrades will also be available to optimize the performance of the turbo RZR.

We wish that we had this system available for sale today, however designing, testing and manufacturing a complete, reliable turbocharger system is a very time consuming undertaking. With 15 years experience in automotive turbocharger systems design and fuel injection tuning, most notably including the Lingenfelter twin-turbo Corvette, you will find that Thunderhawk Performance has designed a turbo system for the Polaris Ranger RZR that is second to none. Additional product information will be released over the next few weeks.

Warm air & blue skies for second Rumble on the Ridge of 2007

May 26, 2007

The second Rumble on the Ridge for 2007 was held under blue skies at the Shortcreek Sportsman’s Club in Adena, Ohio on May 26, 2007. This event attracted over 1400 riders. The dry conditions led to a bit more dust than most riders would have liked, but all-in-all it was a wonderful day on the trails. Thunderhawk Performance had our trailer set up at the event, but we managed to slip away and hit the trails as well.

The next Rumble on the Ridge will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007. We’ll be there, and we hope you make plans to attend too.

Trails challenging at Rumble on the Ridge

April 14, 2007

The first Rumble on the Ridge for 2007 was held on April 14, 2007. Over 3000 riders pulled their ATV’s, dirt bikes and side-by-sides out from winter storage to attend. With temperatures in the low-50’s and with a threat of rain, it didn’t feel like winter was gone just yet. The trails were challenging due to the weather conditions and riders on 2WD sport bikes were having trouble negotiating the terrain. Once all of the slower sport bikes were out of the way, the UTV’s were able to pick up the pace a bit. Throughout the day, the temperatures dropped into the upper-30’s and it began to rain just after noon. This was enough to send many home early, including us. Although the day was cut short, thousands were able to get out for their first ride of the year.

The next Rumble on the Ridge will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2007. The weather should be much better for this upcoming event. Thunderhawk Performance is a sponsor of the Rumble on the Ridge and we will have our trailer set up in the manufacturers midway, so stop by on May 26 and see us at the next Rumble.
